I got tired of coffee reviews that made me feel like I needed to spend a month's rent on gear just to make a decent cup at home.
Why This Site Exists
Most coffee content online falls into two categories: cheap "best budget" listicles that haven't actually tested the gear, or ultra-enthusiast videos where someone critiques a $3,000 espresso machine for having the "wrong" type of steam wand knob. Neither helps the average person who just wants reliably good coffee at home.
Normal Guy Coffee lives in the middle. We test gear that normal people can actually afford. We tell you honestly what's worth it and what's not. And we never, ever make you feel bad about drinking coffee the way you like it.
How We Review
Every piece of gear we recommend goes through a real evaluation:
- We actually use it. No reading spec sheets and writing a "review." Every product on this site has been used for at least a week of real coffee making.
- We call out the flaws. Nothing is perfect. We tell you what sucks about every product — because knowing the downsides is more useful than another list of bullet-point praise.
- We tell you who it's NOT for. A $400 espresso machine might be amazing value, but if you don't want to spend 10 minutes dialing in every morning, it's not for you. We say so.
- We're honest about the price-value tradeoff. Sometimes the $50 thing is 90% as good as the $200 thing. Sometimes it isn't. We'll tell you.
